About the hotel
THE STORY BEHIND
TISVILDELEJE STRANDHOTEL
When Tisvildeleje Strandhotel’s founder, Frederik Nielsen, built the house in 1895, he could hardly have foreseen that the place would one day become a romantic gem and a popular resort in the old fishing village.
Back in the day, Frederik Nielsen ran a grocery store and a carriage center at the site. Initially, he would pick up summer guests from Hillerød, but when the railway tracks were extended all the way to Tisvildeleje, the carriage center, grocery store, and stable were converted into a bathing pension.
If you walk around the cozy courtyard and enter the hall today, you are actually standing in the old stable, which is now used for weddings and other festive events.
In 2008, Alexander Kølpin took over the hotel, and since then, the old buildings have undergone extensive renovation. The interior design in both our lounges and rooms exudes warmth and makes you feel the history of the house. We also hope that you will feel like a part of a private home with warm colors, bamboo, and a Danish summer atmosphere and coziness when you visit one of our 24 rooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet, at Tisvildeleje Strandhotel.
